[Morphemon Duelists Ep.2]

Could be much more refined.

I realise that you could not get other voice actors and I feel for you. But the predicament that this left you in hit the animation pretty hard. A lot of the voice acting just didn't hit the spot for most of the characters.

Altogether the plot took a long while to go very little distance. There was too much random things happening as well that distracted from anything meaningful and added nothing. The hot air balloon for one. Or the black teacher. For the distance the plot goes the 20+ min length was far too much to ask for people to sit through. I could see how the characters were parodies of japanese anime but the long school bit was very american in style and made the characters out of place.

There was no overall series structure given either. The main character had no big dream or even a goal. There was no love interests and the rivalry is very forced. There is also no greater threat established OR any relationship growth between deulist and morphemon. While these are not needed for a comedy flash they are all big parts of what I imagine you were parodying. So much material could have been drawn from these sources.

Some parts were good but the presentation and acting usually muted the impact of any comedy. I could see what you were getting at but there was a lot holding you back. And to say this was years in the making I would have expected something polished and refined. This just seems to fall flat in a lot of areas. Maybe even quickening the pace on this flash would have helped. It could have started off in school. The don't get their til about a third in.

Anyway I think this could have been greatly improved with better voice actors and better pacing. You didn't need to explain everyones background in one episode. Characters usually get their own episode for background exploration. And I understand if you could not get other voice actors but it is still a fact that the lack of them was a big flaw in the animation. For me it was the biggest.

So i should have cut everything before the school and separated each character development into it's own episode? So you'd have me making 2 minute episodes developing characters people don't have any reason to care about.

[The Kirby Collab]

Average collab

I feel harsh for doing this but this collab lacked any real thought. Your typical gory looney tune style gag or gay joke. I didn't like AGU as it was a dragon ball z figh with 2 kirby sprites. Just change the sprites and it could go in any collab. Lots of these collabs are becoming quite stale so I wouldn't say it is your inability as artists.

Actually, this Collab was pretty thought out. The jokes weren't that thought out and we wanted to focus more on the animation (well at least I did). I thought that's what people cared about and wow, was I wrong.

I liked it!

It is unique! I love the art style and the way it was done. I didn't quite understand all the random things happening to the red shape though, maybe it was a little over the top.

Amazing but...

This would get a ten out of ten if the art was improved upon. It is amazingly directed and the battle scene is very intense and imaginative.
The music was great as well.
Maybe you should improve on drawing anime a little bit and it would go a long way. It would be good for this animation seeing as pokemon itself is an anime art style.

Thats the thing I am very good at drawing anime, I draw all the time :) even at my university lectures i'd quickly draw a pic of goku or someone from bleach or something, yeah sounds sad, but i'll admit it. But for some reason folks round here don't seem to like my art style. I like to keep it simple, and not some complicated shite I see on certain videos on newgrounds. If I did focus on my art style It therefore takes the action away and makes this look like a 3 and half minute art show Oo which is not what I want.

A poor confused flash

Why are you so sickened by their style of flash?
It doesn't take itself seriously, it's light hearted and immature. So what if people like it and it is successful? Maybe people want to be nonsensical and immature and childish and just let go every now and then. Not only that it is accessible to people who don't usually go to newgrounds.
Newgrounds says "Everything by Everyone" but you seem afraid that the site becomes accessible to people who don't take flash seriously or want serious themes.
And how can you criticise them for not being original when all you guys jumped on the big collab bandwagon and obvioulsly failed at that!
This is one big tantrum at two other artists because you think there is no place for a small humerous flash in a place for "Everything by everyone".
